Jorge Moll is a neuroscientist with a zeal for technology and changing how operations are conducted in the healthcare. Jorge Moll works in the capacity of the president and the head of the cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience Unit at the D’Or Institute for Research and Education (IDOR).
Jorge Moll talks about the role of technology in healthcare stating that advancement in Technology has revolutionized the medical fraternity, opening up new ventures in the health sector. He believes that if medicine is used alongside technology, then the impact is immense. He gives an example of Google Glass, an invention of the Google Company that has the ability to retrieve information needed by just the use of a solitary vocal command. Jorge Moll states that Google Glass gives the doctor an opportunity to deal with one client at a time and allocate them the attention they deserve. It contributes to an effective human interaction between patient and doctor. It also leads to the promotion of safety standards when conducting medical assessments.
Jorge Moll indicates that once the patient leaves the consultation room, the information that is collected by the doctor gets stored and can be easily reviewed by a specialist. He believes that Google glass has the potential, in this case, to increase productivity and improve the patient experience. He also reports that tablets and smartphones have also changed how data is stored and retrieved. He indicates that technology has made it possible for patients to retrieve their medical information and book appointments. He concludes by calling upon the rapid collaboration between entities to ensure that medical innovation is embraced as fast as possible and used to transform the lives of people.
Jorge Moll went to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro for his medical degree with a focus on neurology. He also did his Ph.D. in Experimental pathophysiology at the University of Sao Paulo. He serves on the board of the International Neuroethics Society as a member. He got recognized in 2015 by being awarded a visitor Scholar award from Stanford University.
